Confident Parents: Thriving Kids parenting skills programs
School can be a tricky issue when kids experience anxiety or behaviour challenges. Confident Parents: Thriving Kids is a program from the Canadian Mental Health Association BC Division for parents of children ages 3-12. Parents learn new skills and work with a coach by phone to solve problems. There are two streams: one for children who experience anxiety and one for children who experience behaviour challenges. We Are Indigenous: Big Worries/Fears is available for First Nations, Métis and Inuit families in BC. All programs are free with referral. To learn more, visit welcome.cmhacptk.ca.

iMinds resources for K-12 educators
The Canadian Institute for Substance Use Research's iMinds curriculum resources bring drug literacy and gambling literacy into classrooms. Resources encourage students to think critically about drugs and gambling in the real world and talk about different issues, but teachers don't have to be experts in mental health and substance use to guide conversations. Looking ahead: Beyond the Blues 2022
Beyond the Blues education & screening days take place every fall and winter across BC starting around Mental Illness Awareness Week at the beginning of October. Events are organized locally so each one may be a little different, but you can expect fun activities or presentations to learn more about mental health and well-being, opportunities to take screening tests and speak privately with a local mental health professional, and information about local services and resources.
