Helping a Friend You're Worried About Infosheet
It can be hard to know what to do when you're concerned about a friend or someone you know. This info sheet for young people talks about what you can do and where you can go if you think a friend might be struggling with their mental health or substance use. Read the info sheet at www.heretohelp.bc.ca/infosheet/helping-a-friend-youre-worried-about.

Healthy Schools
Canadian Institute for Substance Use Research
Drug use and gambling are important parts of health education, but these topics are not always easy to bring up in the classroom. Talking about drugs and gambling helps young people understand how drugs and gambling fit into the world around them, understand risk, and make choices for themselves. Healthy Schools and the iMinds lesson plans help educators have these conversations without fear or scaring students, and students have the opportunity to think more critically and build resilience skills. For more, visit helpingschools.ca.
In the Know
FamilySmart
FamilySmart's In the Know offers expert speakers who discuss different topics that are important to families, caregivers, and loved ones who are parenting a child or youth with a mental health or substance use problem. Previous sessions are available online and cover many topics related to school, such as Teens and Schools and Building Relationships Between Home and School. For more, visit familysmart.ca/program/itk/itk-video-library/.
