This issue of Visions focuses on transitions related to leaving the workplace. Leaving your job is commonly thought to be one of the most stressful transitions a person can face. Worries about the future, fears about regaining employment, financial pressures and a loss of confidence and self-esteem are just some of the experiences a person in this position may go through. Yet there are many different reasons for a person leaving the workplace—temporarily or permanently—and the transition might in fact be expected, welcomed, or beneficial. Every situation has a different impact on a person’s mental health and well-being, as this issue of Visions explores.
